It's been a busy but emotional day and now quiet has descended as C and B have gone to gym club. It's just me, my thoughts and the pup. Appointments have been made, Business Link next week and Lloyds on Thursday. Enquries made to the local business networks and perhaps more importantly, the local Women's Business Network - quite looking forward to some nice lunches with a bit of business talk and networking thrown in.
Business is a funny thing, there's a global market out there and these days with the internet we're all chasing the same customers local or not. It always amuses me when I sell to Americans and I know they can get identical items in their own country. Especially as the exchange rate works against them at the moment. Ebay is truly the most bizare market place of all.
I'm desperately waiting for the 30 days to be up since I set up the new eBay business id. The one word name we had choosen for the biz and registered as at banks, suppliers and with the tax man was taken, so in my panic to choose something on the spot , I ended up with something I don't like! Only another 12 days to go.
I've have heaps of stock to upload to eBay and photos to take of those items where the manufacturers don't have pics on their sites - some cute animal fleece comfort blankets being one. Loads of files to do too before the night has finished!
But it all humbles against programs like this last night. I was both moved and disturbed by this fantastic program. Moved because how could you be anything but, and disturbed because it felt so intrusive watching their distress. We sat in total silence last night, which is rare as we normally comment on what we watch - particularly parenting progs which have me yelling at the tv. For my part, I felt that Michael Stone was telling the truth - he appeared totally honest and he seemed very touched by the distress and hurt he had caused.
But I'm not convinced that it was right for the BBC to film it. Obviously the families agreed, but how much of that was a result of taking advantage of the situation? That disturbs me.
