The day started with a lovely cuddle in bed with Charlie - he is loving the chance of co-sleeping again whilst Bev is away - unfortunately for him she is back tonight!

This morning he has done a huge amount - totally willingly and without fuss! He started with Sonlight and did the read alouds and readers and finished off Archiologists Dig for Clues - which he loved. He zipped through the comprehension/narration questions and then we caught up on a load of map work which he loved. I deviated from the Sonlight norm here by printing out relevant maps and asking him to colour in the relevant countries and he then numbered them and made a key. He really enjoyed this, and we looked all the way back through the Study Guides and did all those we had missed in previous weeks. Works better for us than using the markable map because the pen marks on it seem to disappear! Took him a while to do but he loved it and didn't even complain about writing the key!

This is the way we are going to deal with all the map work from now on - its also a way of stretching it a bit for his ability as just putting a dot on a map isn't enough for Charlie - he loves Geography.

He finished off with a couple of pages of Miquon.

I spent last night checking out Childs History of the World and Story of the World and its accompanying activity book. I've printed the chart that correlates the two books, and had a look through the introduction of each - ready to start when we reach that point in a day or two. Charlie is so looking forward to starting the main history parts of Sonlight. I decided to buy the extra books suggested in SOTW from Amazon, so last night I duly ordered the Usborne Internet Linked History of the World, Kingfisher Encyclopedia of British History, Usborne Internet Linked Encyclopedia of the Ancient World, The Kingfisher History Encyclopedia and the DK Animal Encyclopedia (not related to history!)

So easy to blow £80 on books!
